Kim Taehyung continues to solidify his status as a global solo powerhouse.
On January 23, the music video for V’s beloved track ‘Christmas Tree’ officially crossed the 100 million view mark on YouTube. This achievement marks V’s fourth solo music video to reach this significant milestone, joining the ranks of his other hit releases: ‘Winter Bear,’ ‘Sweet Night,’ and ‘Love Me Again.’
Originally released on Christmas Eve in 2021, ‘Christmas Tree’ served as the main original soundtrack (OST) for the hit K-drama Our Beloved Summer. The track quickly became a fan favorite, praised for showcasing V’s deep, warm, and emotive vocal texture that perfectly complemented the drama’s romantic narrative.
The song’s creation was a meticulous process tailored specifically for the BTS member. Music director Nam Hye-seung revealed that she had V in mind from the very beginning of the planning stages. She noted, “V’s voice has different charms in the low, high, and mid ranges,” explaining that utilizing his versatile vocal color was a key focus during production to maximize the song’s emotional resonance.
Beyond YouTube, ‘Christmas Tree’ has etched its name in music history. Upon release, it became the first Korean OST to debut on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It also holds the title of the most-streamed K-OST worldwide on Spotify and was previously recognized by Billboard as one of the best Christmas songs of the 21st century.
