ASTRO member and actor Cha Eun Woo is embroiled in a massive tax evasion controversy involving approximately 20 billion KRW ($13.83 million), placing his career in jeopardy just a year before his military discharge.

Nana Vows Strong Legal Action After Robbery Suspect Files “Attempted Murder” Complaint

Actress Nana and her agency, Sublime, have announced a zero-tolerance legal stance against a robbery suspect who broke into her home last November. On January 2, the agency released a statement condemning the suspect for causing “secondary harm” by filing a retaliatory complaint against the actress.

The incident occurred on November 15, when an intruder identified as “A” broke into Nana’s home in Guri, Gyeonggi Province. Nana managed to subdue the armed intruder physically. While “A” was arrested for aggravated robbery resulting in injury, he recently filed a complaint against Nana, claiming her acts of self-defense constituted “attempted murder” and denying he was armed.

Sublime stated, “The perpetrator has shown no remorse and has instead filed a separate complaint against Nana, exploiting the fact that the victim is a public figure.” The agency revealed that while they initially considered leniency, this audacious move has led them to pursue “all possible civil and criminal legal actions” to protect their artist from further psychological and physical trauma.

First-Generation Beauty YouTuber Daddoa Passes Away at 29

The beauty community is mourning the loss of popular YouTuber Daddoa (Lee Da Sol), who passed away at the age of 29.

According to her agency, Leferi, the creator died on December 16, though the news was only recently made public. In a statement, the agency honored her legacy, describing her as “more than a first-generation YouTuber” and a “pioneering figure who was among the first to prove the global potential of K-beauty.”

Respecting the bereaved family’s wishes, the cause of death has not been disclosed, and the agency has requested that the public refrain from speculation.

Born in 1996, Daddoa began her career as a blogger before launching her YouTube channel in 2014. She quickly gained over a million subscribers and expanded her influence across Asia, particularly in China. In 2021, she had paused her online activities to focus on her academic studies. Fans have since flooded social media with condolences, expressing their sadness and gratitude for her work.

143 Entertainment Confirms Suspension of Yeseo and Suhye; MADEIN to Promote as Four

On December 26, 143 Entertainment released an official statement announcing that members Yeseo and Suhye have suspended their activities with the group MADEIN.

Effective immediately, the group will reorganize as a four-member unit consisting of Mashiro, MiU, Serina, and Nagomi for the time being. The agency pledged “unwavering support” to stabilize the group’s future promotions during this transition.

The statement also addressed the ongoing controversy involving the agency’s former CEO. 143 Entertainment clarified that they are awaiting the final results of an investigation regarding the former executive and vowed to “take responsibility” based on the findings. They also emphasized their intent to hold accountable those who have caused significant harm to the group.

The legal proceedings against former idol Taeil have officially concluded with a finalized prison sentence. On December 26, South Korea’s Supreme Court rejected all appeals filed by the defendant and his two accomplices, upholding the lower courts’ rulings regarding charges of aggravated sexual assault under the Sexual Violence Punishment Act.

As a result of the confirmed verdict, Taeil will serve a mandatory prison term of three years and six months. In addition to incarceration, the court has ordered him to complete a 40-hour sexual-offender treatment program. He is also subject to a five-year employment ban, which legally prohibits him from working at any facilities involving children, adolescents, or individuals with disabilities.

In delivering its final decision, the Supreme Court emphasized the gravity of the offense, describing the nature of the crime as “severely serious.” The ruling explicitly noted that the victim was in a state where resistance was impossible at the time of the assault, a critical factor that led the judiciary to maintain the strict sentence without leniency.

Hwasa has officially cemented her status as a digital powerhouse. According to iChart data from December 23, her latest hit “Good Goodbye” has achieved a staggering 400 Perfect All-Kills (PAKs) since reaching the top spot on November 30.

This achievement makes Hwasa the first solo female artist of 2025 to achieve a PAK. She joins an exclusive list of 2025 chart-toppers, including IVE, G-Dragon, and HUNTR/X. Among domestic artists (excluding global group HUNTR/X), Hwasa currently holds the highest cumulative PAK count of the year.

The song has also entered the history books, climbing to No. 5 on the All-Time PAK list, trailing only legends like IU, BTS, NewJeans, and HUNTR/X. The track’s massive success is largely attributed to her viral performance at the 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards, which sparked a resurgence in popularity across all major streaming platforms.

If you haven’t heard the name Rosé in the last few years, you’ve probably been living under a rock (honestly, we forgive you, but it’s time to wake up!).

As a key member of the world’s biggest girl group, BLACKPINK, Rosé isn’t just a K-pop idol. She is a force of nature, a high-fashion muse, and a record-breaking artist. From Melbourne to Paris, here is why Park Chaeyoung (her Korean name) is the ultimate icon of our generation.

🇦🇺 From Down Under to World Domination

Born in New Zealand and raised in Melbourne, Rosé was just the “girl next door” jamming on her guitar in her bedroom. But destiny called at age 15. At a YG Entertainment audition in Sydney (where she competed against 700 people!), she took first place. She packed her bags, left her family, and flew to Korea. The rest, as they say, is history.

🎤 A Voice Like No Other

In the K-pop universe, there are voices… and then there is THE voice of Rosé. As BLACKPINK’s Main Vocalist, she possesses that unique, slightly indie, emotional timbre that is recognizable within a split second. Whether she’s belting out bangers like Kill This Love or stripping it back for acoustic ballads, she brings a soulful touch that melts BLINKs’ hearts every time.

📈 The Solo Phenomenon: From “R” to “APT.”

When Rosé goes solo, she doesn’t do things halfway.

  • The Debut: Her single album R smashed records with On The Ground, an anthem of self-reflection that dominated global charts instantly.
  • The “APT.” Fever: Recently, she broke the internet with “APT.”, her viral collaboration with Bruno Mars. Admit it, you’ve spent weeks singing “Apateu, Apateu” in the shower. This track didn’t just prove her versatility; it cemented her status as a global superstar capable of turning any sound into gold.

🖤 The Fashion Muse: “Human Saint Laurent”

If music is her kingdom, fashion is her playground. Rosé is the embodiment of modern chic.

  • Saint Laurent: As their Global Ambassador, she brought rock-chic back to the forefront. Who can forget her historic entrance at the Met Gala, arm-in-arm with Anthony Vaccarello?
  • Tiffany & Co.: She shines (literally) as the face of the luxury jewelry house, bringing a fresh, youthful elegance to the brand.

🎸 A Musician at Heart

Behind the glitter, the records, and the red carpets, Rosé remains a girl deeply passionate about music. She plays the guitar, the piano, and is actively involved in writing her songs. It’s this authenticity and her naturally sweet personality that make her so lovable to millions of fans.

The Verdict? Rosé is much more than a celebrity. She is a complete artist navigating between mainstream pop culture and high fashion with effortless grace. We can’t wait to see what she does next!

It is undeniable: Jennie Kim is the main character. From her explosive debut with BLACKPINK to establishing her own agency, she has rewritten the rulebook for K-pop idols.

As we look back at her career, it’s clear that Jennie isn’t just a singer or a rapper she is a cultural phenomenon. Here is a breakdown of the three defining eras that made her the icon she is today.

1. The Rookie Monster (2016)

When BLACKPINK debuted in 2016, all eyes were immediately on the girl with the fierce gaze and the contrasting shy personality.

  • The Vibe: Energetic, fierce, and fresh.
  • The Highlight: Dominating the charts with Boombayah and Whistle.
  • The Impact: She quickly earned the nickname “Human Gucci” for her effortless style, proving from day one that she was born to be a trendsetter.

2. The SOLO Queen (2018-2023)

Jennie didn’t just participate in the K-pop wave; she led it. In 2018, she became the first BLACKPINK member to debut as a soloist with the aptly titled track, SOLO.

  • The Vibe: Luxurious, confident, and high-fashion.
  • The Highlight: SOLO topping global charts and her solidification as the “Chanel Human.”
  • The Impact: During this era, she became a global “It Girl,” gracing the Met Gala steps and becoming the face of major luxury brands. She proved she could stand alone just as powerfully as she stands with her group.

3. CEO Jennie (The ODDATELIER Era)

Fast forward to today, and we are witnessing perhaps her most exciting chapter yet. Stepping away from YG Entertainment for her solo activities, Jennie founded her own label, ODDATELIER (OA).

  • The Vibe: Independent, boss-like, and free.
  • The Highlight: Taking full control of her artistry, brand partnerships, and public image.
  • The Impact: No longer just an idol following a company’s plan, she is now the decision-maker. This era is defined by creative freedom and redefining what it means to be a female artist in the Korean entertainment industry.

What’s Next?

Whether she is tearing up the stage at Coachella, sitting front row at Paris Fashion Week, or signing paperwork as the founder of OA, one thing is certain: Jennie keeps evolving.

In the highly curated world of K-pop, LE SSERAFIM’s Huh Yunjin stands out with a raw, authentic style that has birthed a viral aesthetic: “Jennifer Core.” It’s the ultimate meeting point between American campus cool and Seoul’s sharp street fashion.

Far from pristine airport looks, Yunjin masters the art of the effortless “Hot Girl” vibe. To get the look, you need a few staples: the signature maxed-out headphones (her modern crown), oversized silhouettes played against micro-tops, and a heavy dose of Y2K grunge. Whether she’s rocking the “no-pants” trend or baggy low-rise jeans, the secret sauce is contrast.

But the real key to “Jennifer Core”? Absolute confidence. Yunjin proves that attitude is the best accessory, refusing to choose between idol glamour and Gen Z comfort. She isn’t following trends she is the trend. Grab your headphones; the Yunjin era is here to stay.

If there is one name that has dominated headlines, playlists, and fashion billboards over the last decade, it’s Jeon Jungkook.

Known affectionately as the “Golden Maknae” of the juggernaut group BTS, Jungkook has transitioned from a doe-eyed teenager into a bona fide global pop superstar. But how did he get here? We’re breaking down the timeline of the idol who seems to turn everything he touches into gold.

The “Baby Tiger” Beginnings

It’s hard to imagine now, but the king of stage presence started as a shy 15-year-old. Recruited by BigHit Entertainment, he was a diamond in the rough.

The lore is legendary: Jungkook had offers from multiple major agencies, but he signed with BigHit for one reason he thought RM (BTS’s leader) was “cool.” That single decision changed the course of music history.

Defining the “Golden” Standard

Why do fans call him the Golden Maknae ? Because, quite frankly, there is nothing he can’t do.

  • Vocals? Angelic and stable.
  • Dance? Powerful and precise.
  • Rap & Sports? He aces those too.

In an industry full of specialists, Jungkook is the ultimate all-rounder. He didn’t just fill a position in the group; he became the standard for what a modern idol should be.

Growing Up in the Spotlight

As the main vocalist and center of BTS, Jungkook grew up in front of the world. We watched him transform from the cute youngest member in No More Dream to the confident, charismatic man dominating stadiums during the Love Yourself tours.

He didn’t just ride the wave of BTS’s success; he was the engine room, providing the vocal stability for some of their biggest hits like Dynamite and Butter.

The Solo Takeover: “Seven” Days a Week

Then came the solo era. If anyone doubted whether Jungkook could hold a stage alone, 2023 silenced them instantly.

His debut solo album, GOLDEN, shattered records left and right. The lead single, Seven (feat. Latto), became the fastest song to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify. He wasn’t just a K-pop idol anymore; he was standing toe-to-toe with the biggest western pop giants.

More Than Music: A Cultural Icon

Jungkook’s impact goes beyond the charts. Whether he is opening the FIFA World Cup in Qatar or breaking the internet as the face of Calvin Klein, his influence is massive. He has redefined the “Pop Star” image for a new generation blending humility with insane talent and a touch of rebellious edge (we see you, piercings and tattoos! 🤘).

The Verdict ?

Jungkook’s journey from a 15-year-old dreamer to a global legend is the ultimate success story. He has inspired millions through hard work and a refusal to settle for anything less than perfection.

Whether you know him as the bunny of BTS or the global pop star JK, one thing is certain: It’s Jungkook’s world, we’re just living in it.

Although she noted that preparations are just beginning and the concept is still under wraps, she asked fans to send their love and support as she works on this new chapter.

If you open social media, turn on the TV, or walk past a luxury billboard in Seoul, you will see her. Jang Wonyoung, the center of IVE, is not merely a K-Pop idol; she is a cultural phenomenon. But what exactly is it about this Gen Z icon that has the world so captivated? The answer lies in a mix of innate star power, immense professionalism, and a mindset that has gone viral.

Born to Be Center From the moment she stepped onto the stage at age 14, it was clear: Wonyoung was born to be the center. Possessing unreal proportions and a magnetic stage presence, she transitioned from IZ*ONE to IVE seamlessly, carrying the weight of expectation with a grace that belies her age. She understands the camera instinctively, knowing exactly how to capture the audience’s attention with a single glance.

The “Lucky Vicky” Mindset However, her current explosion in popularity goes beyond visuals. It’s her attitude. The “Lucky Vicky” trend named after her English name, Vicky refers to her relentlessly positive outlook. Whether it’s a bakery running out of her favorite treat or a scheduling mishap, Wonyoung famously spins the narrative: “Because of this, I get to try something new fresh out of the oven! I’m so lucky!” This mindset has resonated deeply with fans worldwide, turning her into a guru of positivity.

A Professional Perfectionist Behind the memes and the Miu Miu campaigns is a work ethic that demands respect. Industry insiders frequently cite her professionalism; she maintains perfect posture, unwavering energy, and constant engagement with fans despite a grueling schedule. She is the “It Girl” not by accident, but by design and dedication.

Jang Wonyoung is defining a generation of K-Pop. With her unique blend of talent, beauty, and bulletproof optimism, the “Wonyoung Effect” shows no signs of slowing down.

In the landscape of Korean entertainment, few actresses possess the shapeshifting ability of Kim Go-eun. From the innocent, sunshine-filled smile of the “Goblin’s Bride” to the gritty, impoverished resilience of Little Women, she has refused to be boxed into a single archetype. Now, with her latest role in The Price of Confession, Kim Go-eun is not just acting; she is undergoing a complete metamorphosis.

From Muse to Master Kim Go-eun’s career began with a shockwave. Her debut in A Muse (Eungyo) was fearless, stripping away vanity to reveal raw talent. Over the last decade, she has built a filmography that balances commercial hits with artistic integrity. She has long been known for her ability to ground fantasy in reality, but her new project pushes her into uncharted territory.

A Chilling New Chapter In The Price of Confession, the warmth we associate with Kim is gone. In its place is a chilling, magnetic intensity. Portraying a character wrapped in mystery and moral ambiguity, she dives deep into the psyche of a woman pushed to the edge. It is her darkest role to date, requiring a shedding of the charming “rom-com queen” image to embrace something far more sinister and complex.

The Power of Silence What critics and fans are noting most about this performance is her mastery of silence. Kim Go-eun commands the screen not through loud monologues, but through micro-expressions—a twitch of the eye, a cold stare, a trembling hand. It is a masterclass in tension, proving that she has matured into one of the industry’s most formidable dramatic talents.

With The Price of Confession, Kim Go-eun solidifies her status not just as a star, but as a true artisan of acting who continues to redefine her limit

Soyou has recently opened up about her weight loss journey and the challenges she has encountered.

On November 27, she uploaded a new video to her YouTube channel. After going viral several times this year for her dramatic transformation, Soyou decided to share the methods behind her diet along with some of the downsides she experienced while losing so much weight.

She began by mentioning that many of her clothes have become too loose, to the point where she now has to get her pants tailored so they still fit. Although these alterations can be pricey, she considers them worthwhile as “a sign of commitment to maintaining her current physique.”

Soyou also disclosed her InBody test results, which came with a few surprising findings. The test a body composition analysis measuring fat and muscle mass showed that back in July, she had lost a significant amount of muscle alongside body fat, leaving her in a “thin and weak” state. The results shocked her and motivated her to work out harder to rebuild muscle. By October, she had increased her muscle mass while reducing her body fat even further.

She added that contrary to what many believe, she doesn’t actually like being extremely skinny. “I only lost weight because of the album promotions for ‘PDA.’ But I keep losing more… it’s becoming a problem, haha.” She explained that she never intended to drop below 50 kg (110 lbs), yet recently discovered she now weighs 49 kg (108 lbs).

Soyou then shared some habits that help her maintain her weight. Her top advice? “Consistent workouts, especially cardio.” She regularly exercises for about three hours. Regarding her diet, she made a surprising confession: “I eat whatever I’m craving. I don’t have a diet plan.” Her real strategy, she said, is portion control and limiting herself to one or two meals a day. “I keep dinner light and focus on eating breakfast and lunch.”

She also said she doesn’t believe in cheat days, claiming they often derail people’s progress. “You get a huge surge in appetite because dieting makes your food choices repetitive. After a year since announcing their contract termination, all five members of NewJeans are reportedly set to return to ADOR. Following Haerin and Hyein, members Minji, Hanni, and Danielle have now expressed their intention to resume activities under the label.

On November 12, Minji, Hanni, and Danielle told Yonhap News, “After careful discussions, we have decided to return to ADOR. One member is currently in Antarctica, which caused a delay in communication. Since we have not yet received a response from ADOR, we are announcing this separately. We will continue to meet our fans through sincere music and performances.”

ADOR responded, “We are confirming the sincerity of the members’ intention to return.”

Earlier, the label confirmed that Haerin and Hyein would continue activities with ADOR, respecting the court’s ruling that upheld their exclusive contracts.

NewJeans had previously requested the reinstatement of former CEO Min Hee Jin, whose dismissal amid disputes with HYBE led to their contract termination last year. ADOR maintained that the contracts remained valid and filed a lawsuit, with the court ruling in the agency’s favor.

ADOR has reportedly been preparing for the group’s comeback, even submitting a list of new songs to the court.

Team Bunnies, part of NewJeans’ music production team, also issued a statement expressing full support for the members’ decision to stay with ADOR and continue their activities together.

“Hello, this is Team Bunnies.

Following the first court ruling confirming the validity of the exclusive contracts, NewJeans members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein have decided to maintain their exclusive contracts with ADOR and resume their activities under the company.

Team Bunnies respects the members’ decisions in any situation and will continue to support and stand by the five NewJeans members with unwavering hearts.

Since July 2023, Team Bunnies has been an independent, one-person team that has supported NewJeans as part of the music production team in the design field. As direct resolution of certain matters was difficult, we have proceeded with the help of external Bunnies volunteers. We sincerely apologize for any shortcomings caused by operating as a one-person team and wish to clarify once again that there are no connections with any company executives, employees, or related personnel.

Following this decision, Team Bunnies will continue to fulfill its original role as part of the NewJeans music production team, just as before.

Thank you.

TEAM BUNNIES

ADOR announced that Haerin and Hyein of NewJeans will continue their activities under the label.

The company stated that, after careful discussions with their families, both members have chosen to respect the court’s ruling and honor their exclusive contracts following thorough talks with ADOR.

ADOR added that it will do its best to support Haerin and Hyein to ensure their careers continue smoothly.

Fans are now closely watching to see what steps the remaining members will take next.

“She’s the most beautiful of all female idols” Red Velvet’s Irene goes viral for her breathtaking visuals at a recent event

Red Velvet’s Irene has once again gone viral for her stunning appearance.

On November 11, the idol attended the grand opening of Longchamp’s new luxury pop-up store. However, it wasn’t the event itself that drew attention it was Irene’s captivating beauty.

Known for her timeless, princess-like visuals, Irene charmed fans once more with her elegant look. Wearing a graceful white outfit paired with simple yet classic hair and makeup, she exuded effortless sophistication.

Photos and videos of Irene from the event have been circulating widely on social media, with netizens delighted to see the return of her signature elegance and beauty.

Former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin appeared in court on November 11 as a witness in ADOR’s damages lawsuit against director Shin Woo Seok and Dolphiners Films, the team behind NewJeans’ “Ditto” and “ETA” music videos. The third hearing took place at the Seoul Central District Court, presided over by Judge Lee Hyun Seok.

This was Min’s first court appearance since September, when she faced HYBE in a separate legal dispute over contract termination and stock options.

During testimony, Min stated she had given verbal approval for the release of the “ETA” director’s cut and clarified that ADOR held the copyright, saying:

“Copyright belongs to ADOR. Apple is a partner — I have the authority to approve creative rights.”

Min called ADOR’s damages claim “unreasonable,” arguing that it was “an abuse of the law” to seek penalties over a verbally approved project. She also dismissed allegations of favoritism toward Dolphiners Films as “baseless and slanderous.”

The conflict began when Dolphiners Films uploaded a director’s cut of “ETA” on its own YouTube channel in August last year. ADOR objected, claiming the upload was unauthorized. Afterward, Shin removed all related videos, but tensions escalated when both sides accused each other of false statements and defamation.

The legal battle between ADOR and Dolphiners Films continues to unfold as the court reviews claims of copyright, consent, and reputational damage.

IVE’s Jang Wonyoung has further cemented her elite status by purchasing a luxury villa in Hannam-dong’s UN Village for 13.7 billion KRW (~9.3 million USD).

According to the real estate industry and the Supreme Court Registry Office, Jang acquired a 244㎡ unit in Lucid House, located in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, in March and completed ownership registration last month. No mortgage appears on the registry, suggesting the purchase was made entirely in cash. The seller was Lee Ji Yong, former CEO of Daelim Trading and a second-generation member of the DL Group.

Lucid House, the first development project by Daelim D&I, boasts one of UN Village’s most exclusive addresses. With only 15 households across two buildings, the villa offers panoramic views of the Han River and Namsan, 24-hour security, and private elevators for each unit. The property was previously home to actress Kim Tae Hee, who bought a unit in 2012 for 4.35 billion KRW and sold it in 2018 for 6.4 billion KRW.

Born in 2004, Jang Wonyoung has solidified her position as IVE’s irreplaceable center, combining striking visuals with talent. This year, she has dominated the advertising world as the face of Woori Bank, Malto, Binggrae, Dyson, Dashing Diva, Barer, JIM BEAM, and New Balance.

The 2026 CSAT is set to begin at 8:40 a.m. on November 13 at testing centers nationwide.

The union plans to focus on improving working environments and strengthening systems for mental health and human rights protection.

The committee also urged the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to investigate how agencies handle malicious online comments and manage artists’ mental health, stressing the need for standardized support systems.

They highlighted ongoing issues such as overwork, musculoskeletal disorders, and excessive agency control over idols’ personal lives, calling for idols to be recognized as legitimate workers under labor laws.

The court noted, “ADOR’s dismissal of Min Hee Jin as CEO does not justify terminating NewJeans’ contracts. There is insufficient evidence that her dismissal disrupted the group’s activities or prevented ADOR from managing the group’s interests.”

Both parties have until November 14 KST to file an appeal. If no appeal is made, NewJeans will remain contractually bound to ADOR until 2029.

Following the ruling, NewJeans’ legal team confirmed they plan to appeal. Their statement read, “While we respect the court’s decision, our clients feel it is difficult to return to ADOR and continue activities due to the complete breakdown of trust. We hope the appellate court carefully reviews the evidence and laws regarding exclusive contracts to reach a fair decision.”

BTS’s RM Delivers Inspiring Keynote at APEC CEO Summit, Linking K-pop’s Global Power to Cultural Inclusion

On October 29, BTS leader RM took the stage at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit in Gyeongju, South Korea, marking a historic moment as the first K-pop artist to deliver a keynote at the prestigious global forum.

Speaking during the session titled “Creative Industries in the APEC Region and the Soft Power of K-Culture,” RM shared his insights on the global success of K-pop and emphasized the importance of supporting creators around the world.

Reflecting on his journey, RM expressed pride in the recognition of culture as a key agenda within APEC, stating, “As a creator, I feel deep pride and great expectations that this year, culture has been recognized as a core agenda item.” He credited BTS’s success to teamwork, producer Bang Si Hyuk’s trust, and the unwavering support of ARMY the group’s international fanbase who helped bridge cultural and linguistic barriers.

RM recalled how, a decade ago, BTS faced questions about their identity as “Korean artists” rather than their music. “We had to explain our country before we could share our songs,” he said. “But today, those barriers have been broken thanks to ARMY, who use our music to communicate across borders.”

Drawing a vivid parallel, RM likened K-pop to Korea’s beloved dish, bibimbap: “Just like bibimbap blends diverse ingredients, K-pop fuses global genres with Korean aesthetics and emotions.”

He concluded with a message to global leaders: “Arts and culture are powerful forces that unite people. I urge you to invest not only in economies but also in creativity. I will continue spreading courage, hope, and inclusion through music.”

Actor Rowoon recently opened up about the behind-the-scenes story of his now-viral underwear photoshoot and the surprising physical transformation that followed.

In an interview held on October 15 at a café in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, for the Disney+ original series The Murky Stream (written by Chun Sung Il and directed by Choo Chang Min), Rowoon addressed the buzz around his recent photoshoot for an underwear brand particularly the shots revealing his underarms.
“I honestly didn’t think it would blow up like that,” he said with a laugh. “I just thought, ‘Well, this is what fits the times.’ Our job is to be seen, after all. It was a commercial project, and every image went through the brand’s review process before the final selection.”

But shortly after the shoot, Rowoon had to undergo a major physical change for his role as Jang Si Yool in The Murky Stream.

“I had reduced my body fat for the underwear ad, but the director wanted a physique that looked more like a stray cat — wild and unrefined,” he explained. “He said a sculpted six-pack would look too unrealistic. So I adjusted my body, and when I asked, ‘Does this look right?’ he said, ‘Perfect.’ I was so relieved I immediately treated myself to two hamburgers.”

After filming wrapped, Rowoon’s weight fluctuated again. Appearing noticeably slimmer at the drama’s press conference, he revealed what had happened.

“I was just enjoying my mom’s home-cooked meals,” he said with a smile. “It was right before my enlistment, and she made sure I ate plenty. But when a senior actor commented that I’d gained weight, I was shocked. So I dropped about 8 kilograms (17 pounds) in just one week — I practically stopped eating because I knew I’d be photographed in the military.”

Rowoon’s latest work, The Murky Stream, is a historical action drama set in Joseon’s vibrant trade hub of Gyeonggang, where wealth and goods constantly flow. The series depicts the intertwined lives of people fighting against corruption to reclaim their humanity. The final two episodes (8 and 9) will be released on October 17.

According to a report from JTBC Entertainment News on October 13, Im is currently working on the album with SM Entertainment, which is also expected to handle his future music activities.

An SM representative confirmed the news, saying, “One of our subsidiary labels is producing Im Si Wan’s solo album, and we are coordinating the release schedule and related details.”

Im Si Wan has been without an agency since August. While developing his solo project independently, he reportedly decided to collaborate with SM after receiving advice from senior artist Kangta. He was also said to be drawn to the company’s strong track record in managing top K-pop acts such as TVXQ, Girls’ Generation, NCT, aespa, and RIIZE.

The upcoming release, now in its final stages of production, will mark Im’s first official solo album. Although he has previously taken part in drama soundtracks and collaborations, this will be the first time he releases music solely under his own name.

Im Si Wan debuted in 2010 as a member of the boy group ZE:A, alongside Park Hyung Sik, Hwang Kwang Hee, and Kim Dong Jun, but the group has been inactive since 2017.

Despite his success as an actor, Im has often expressed his desire to return to music. In a recent interview for the Netflix film The Mantis, where he appeared with bleached hair, he said, “I’ve never given up on being a singer,” hinting at his renewed musical ambitions.

While Im has yet to sign with a new management agency for his acting career, industry sources say he is fielding multiple offers. He recently appeared in Netflix’s Squid Game Season 3 and starred in The Mantis, which premiered on August 26.

Actor Choi Hyun Wook’s agency has issued a formal apology following the controversy surrounding his ceremonial first pitch.

On October 13, Gold Medalist told Dispatch, “Choi Hyun Wook feels a deep sense of responsibility for what occurred after the recent first pitch event.” The agency admitted that, as the pitcher, he should have been more mindful of safety precautions, adding, “We sincerely apologize for causing concern to so many people.”

Gold Medalist continued, “We extend our heartfelt apologies to the young batter and their guardian, who were undoubtedly startled by the unexpected situation.”

The agency further revealed, “We were able to get in touch with the child’s guardian through the team today and have personally delivered a written apology. Thankfully, the family has been very understanding.”

They also acknowledged shortcomings in event management, stating, “We recognize that there were inadequacies in our on-site supervision and prior coordination. We will review and strengthen our internal procedures to ensure such an incident never happens again. Once again, we offer our sincere apologies.”

The controversy began on October 9, during Game 1 of the KBO League semi-playoffs at Incheon SSG Landers Field, where Choi Hyun Wook threw the ceremonial first pitch while a young fan stood at the plate. The ball unexpectedly flew near the child’s head, shocking spectators and commentators alike.

The following day, on October 10, Choi addressed the situation on the fan platform Bubble, writing, “I should have thrown the ball more gently and from a closer distance since a young child was standing there. I was too nervous and didn’t think it through. I’m truly sorry.”
Before pursuing acting, Choi Hyun Wook had played baseball as a catcher until his first year of high school, when an elbow injury forced him to quit. He most recently appeared in the drama My Dearest Nemesis alongside actress Moon Ga Young.

According to a report by Star News on October 9, the Suwon District Court Ansan Branch sentenced Ahreum to eight months in prison, suspended for two years. In addition, she was ordered to complete 40 hours of a child abuse prevention education program.

Ahreum had previously appealed the ruling delivered in January, but the court dismissed her appeal, making the sentence final.

Subsequently, her ex-husband filed criminal complaints against Ahreum and her mother for child abuse and the abduction of a minor, as well as a defamation suit regarding her online posts. The court also handed Ahreum’s mother, who was indicted without detention, a four-month prison term suspended for one year.

Ahreum debuted as a member of T-ara in July 2012 but departed from the group in 2013. She later married a businessman in 2019, with whom she shares two sons. After 33 years, South Korea’s National Assembly has officially passed the Tattooist Act, allowing non-medical professionals to legally perform tattoos.

Approved on September 25 with 195 votes in favor, the law recognizes tattooing and permanent makeup as licensed practices, with tattooists required to pass a national exam. However, procedures like tattoo removal remain prohibited. Minors will need parental consent, and practitioners must undergo hygiene and safety training while keeping detailed records of each procedure.

The act, set to take effect in two years, aims to align the law with reality—since most of Korea’s estimated 13 million tattooed citizens and 300,000 industry workers rely on non-medical artists. Tattooists celebrated the decision, hailing it as recognition of their profession and a step toward promoting “K-Tattoo” globally.

While the Ministry of Health welcomed the move as a long-overdue framework for safer practices, the Korean Medical Association raised concerns, insisting medical oversight is still necessary.

Former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin, currently in a 26 billion KRW (≈18.8 million USD) put option dispute with HYBE, is facing allegations of submitting “manipulated KakaoTalk conversations” as evidence in court.

The issue was raised during the September 11 hearing at the Seoul Central District Court, where HYBE presented an alternate version of the same chat logs submitted by Min. According to HYBE, the “original” conversations included additional lines suggesting Min staged the exchange with a former ADOR executive. Messages allegedly read: “I’m going to capture this, so write it well,” “Delete it and rewrite it,” and “Now it’s time to act, go again.”

HYBE argued that these instructions appeared to show Min directing the dialogue, undermining the credibility of her claims that a key ADOR executive had suffered harassment from HYBE officials. The exchanges reportedly took place in January 2024, just before the conflict over ADOR’s management erupted.

The case, overseen by Civil Division 31 of the Seoul Central District Court (Judge Nam In Soo), combines two lawsuits: Min and others seeking payment under the put option, and HYBE’s countersuit to confirm termination of the shareholder agreement.

In response, Min rejected the allegations, telling Sports DongA:

“The September 11 hearing only covered ADOR’s direct questioning of its witness. Since there was no time for cross-examination, my rebuttal will be presented at the next hearing on November 27. The reports are based on one-sided arguments and may not be accurate.”

J.Y. Park has officially been appointed co-chair of the Presidential Commission on Pop Culture Exchange, a newly established body focused on strengthening cultural exchange and global engagement in popular culture. The announcement sparked debate among both Korean and international netizens, many questioning why Park was chosen over other Big 4 executives such as Bang Si Hyuk, Lee Soo Man, or Yang Hyun Suk.

According to a column by IZE (Sept. 10), Park’s selection may actually be the most strategic choice. As the founder and CCO of JYP Entertainment, his appointment—at a ministerial-level position is unprecedented in the entertainment world, especially for someone who has long described himself as simply an entertainer.
The government’s decision underscores the weight of K-pop’s global influence. While the commission will oversee all cultural sectors (film, TV, theater, music, etc.), placing a K-pop leader at its helm highlights how central the genre has become in shaping Korea’s global image.

Recent surveys by the Corea Image Communication Institute (CICI) show overwhelming consensus: both Koreans (94.58%) and foreigners (93.10%) see the Korean Wave particularly its style and image as Korea’s most defining symbol.
And at the core of Hallyu stands K-pop. Netflix’s K-pop Demon Hunters recently surpassed Squid Game as the platform’s most-watched content worldwide, even holding No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for four weeks. Tourism continues to soar as fans visit Seoul’s iconic filming locations, and BLACKPINK’s Rosé just made history at the 2025 MTV VMAs by becoming the first K-pop artist to win Song of the Year.
Against this backdrop, J.Y. Park’s appointment signals the government’s intent to leverage K-pop’s unmatched cultural power making his role as co-chair appear less surprising, and more like an inevitable step.

EVERGLOW has officially announced their return under a new agency.

The group is currently working on a new album and preparing a global fan meeting tour, with stops across Asia.

Since debuting in 2019 with Arrival of EVERGLOW, the group has gained worldwide recognition through hits like “Bon Bon Chocolat,” “DUN DUN,” and “LA DI DA,” the latter named one of Billboard’s Best K-pop Songs of 2020.

Fans are now eagerly anticipating what this fresh new chapter will bring.

HYBE chairman Bang Si Hyuk is set to appear before police on September 15 at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency for questioning over IPO fraud allegations.

This will be his first direct investigation appearance, with reports suggesting he may face the press upon arrival.
Bang is accused of violating the Capital Markets Act by misleading investors in 2019, allegedly denying IPO plans while HYBE was already preparing for one. Investors then sold their shares to a special purpose company backed by HYBE executives, and Bang is suspected of profiting about 190 billion KRW (≈ USD 138 million) from the process.

Authorities have since raided HYBE headquarters, launched a tax audit, and handed the case to the Financial and Securities Crimes Division. Bang has pledged to fully cooperate, stating he hopes the investigation will clarify the truth.

On September 2, SPOTV News reported that Lee Jun Young had been cast as a lead in the upcoming series Four Hands (literal title).

In response, his agency clarified, “It is one of the projects he has received an offer for, but nothing has been decided yet.”

The title Four Hands is drawn from a piano technique where two people play together on the same instrument. The drama will follow the intertwined stories of friendship, love, rivalry, and personal growth among young people at an arts high school, tracing their paths into adulthood as professional pianists.

Lee Jun Young is reportedly being considered for the role of a piano prodigy who develops both a deep friendship and a healthy rivalry with the other lead character. IVE’s Jang Won Young recently shared her candid thoughts on marriage during an appearance on Kang Min Kyung’s popular YouTube vlog series.

In the episode, the idol took over the camera to document her packed schedule—filming Jeongwaja, flying to Germany for Lollapalooza, dining with IVE members and friends, recording in the studio, and more. The vlog also included a relaxed dinner with Kang Min Kyung, where the two opened up over drinks.

At the table, Won Young surprised her senior by suddenly asking if she had plans to marry, explaining that marriage has been “a hot topic” for her lately and something she often brings up in conversation.

Reflecting on her own outlook, Won Young said she could easily imagine herself as “a good wife and a wise mother” because of how much she enjoys caring for others. When asked about her ultimate life goal, she laughed before answering: “To live a good, luxurious life with my husband.”

On September 1, Jungkook celebrated his birthday with a live broadcast to connect with fans.

He opened by saying, “I did several rounds of cardio today, so I don’t have much energy right now,” before adding, “I saw that there’s a staircase in Yongsan decorated with my photos. I thought about going live there, but I got a little scared and decided to do it at home instead.”
His hesitation stemmed from a recent break-in at his residence.

Addressing the August 30 incident, when a woman in her 40s was arrested for trespassing, Jungkook explained: “I was watching everything on CCTV. I heard the police arrive, then saw her rushing through the underground parking lot, trying to open the door. She eventually managed to open it but the police were already standing there. I witnessed the whole thing. She claimed she was my friend… (sigh). ARMY is like family and friends to me, but this was just unfortunate. I’m grateful for the love, but this wasn’t it.”

He then issued a firm warning: “If you try to come in, I’ll lock you inside. All the evidence is recorded and you’ll be taken away. The entire building is covered with CCTV. If you step into my parking lot, you won’t be able to leave unless I open the way. Unless you want to end up at the police station, don’t even think about it.”

The woman, identified as “A,” reportedly followed a car into the parking garage late at night and was caught by security, who immediately alerted police. Upon arrest, she insisted she had entered because it was “a friend’s house.”

This wasn’t the first case in June, a Chinese woman was caught attempting to access Jungkook’s front door by repeatedly entering the passcode. Police later forwarded her to prosecutors without detention on attempted trespassing charges.

A woman in her 40s has been arrested for trespassing at BTS Jungkook’s home, marking the second intrusion in just a few months.

According to reports on July 31 KST, the suspect, identified only as A, was spotted around 11:20 PM on July 30 when she followed a vehicle into the building’s parking lot. A security guard noticed the intrusion and immediately alerted police. When questioned, the woman allegedly gave conflicting explanations, at one point claiming she had entered because it was her “friend’s house.”

This comes shortly after a June incident, in which a Chinese woman was caught attempting to break into Jungkook’s residence by repeatedly trying different door lock codes. She was arrested on-site and later forwarded to the prosecutor’s office on July 27 for attempted trespassing.

Jungkook, who enlisted in December 2023 as part of the Army’s 5th Artillery Brigade and served as a cook, was discharged on June 11, 2025.
With all BTS members set to complete their military service by 2025, fans are eagerly awaiting the group’s long-anticipated full comeback in 2026

BLACKPINK has once again reaffirmed their status as the “Queens of the Music Industry,” with critics and industry outlets recognizing them as one of the most influential artists of the decade. Their countless records both as a group and individually continue to solidify their groundbreaking legacy.

Most recently, MTV announced BLACKPINK’s nomination for “Group of the Year” at the 2025 VMAs. With this, the group made history as the first act ever to be nominated both collectively and with each member individually in the same year.

Rosé now holds the record for the most VMA nominations by a K-pop act, being recognized across eight categories including Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best Pop, Best K-Pop, Best Direction, Best Art Direction, and Best Visual Effects for her hits “APT” and “Toxic till the End.”

Jennie and Jisoo each earned their first solo VMA nominations in the Best K-Pop category for “Like JENNIE” and “Earthquake,” respectively.

Lisa, already the K-pop soloist with the most VMA wins in history, received her 6th nomination in the Best K-Pop category.

With these achievements, BLACKPINK has not only raised the bar but also cemented their place in VMA history and global pop culture.

BTS’s Jimin and actress Song Da Eun are no longer together, despite renewed rumors sparked by resurfaced clips online.

According to media reports on August 31 KST, the two were briefly linked around the time of Jimin’s military enlistment but have long since ended contact. Sources clarified that the videos recently uploaded by Song were recorded during that past period.

An insider noted, “They were involved for a short time, but the footage Song Da Eun shared is from back then.” Another source added, “The exact timeline is unclear, but what’s certain is that they are no longer dating. Jimin has been serving in the military since 2023.”

Rumors of their relationship first surfaced in 2022, when Song posted BTS merchandise and an earphone case tied to Jimin. Although she denied having a boyfriend at the time, she later addressed the issue more directly in June 2024, saying:

“Just because the idol you like loved me doesn’t mean I deserve hate.”
Most recently, a video allegedly showing Jimin’s home spread online, but it has since been confirmed as old footage. Legal experts warn that if the clip was shared without consent, it could be considered a privacy violation under South Korea’s Information and Communications Network Act, carrying penalties of up to seven years in prison.
As of now, BigHit Music has not released an official response.

KBS has formally apologized for airing false information about girl group NewJeans.

On August 27, the broadcaster issued a statement on its viewer petition board, acknowledging:
“During the August 8 broadcast of KBS 1 Radio’s Success Economy with Lee Dae Ho, inaccurate remarks were made by an external guest regarding NewJeans’ legal situation and music activities. We sincerely apologize to NewJeans, their fans, and our listeners for the confusion and concern caused.”

The controversy began when a panelist claimed, “It has been concluded that NewJeans must belong to ADOR, and the group has accepted this,” and further added that “NewJeans has released official music under the name NJZ.” Both statements were untrue.

Following the broadcast, multiple petitions criticizing KBS for spreading misinformation were posted on the viewer board. One petition read: “They presented false information as fact, which was then reported on radio and in articles. We strongly condemn reporting without fact-checking and demand corrections as well as preventive measures.” Another requested an official correction and on-air apology.

In response, KBS explained: “We have issued an apology on the program’s website and YouTube, and edited or deleted all replays and related articles containing the inaccurate remarks.”

The network concluded: “We will strengthen fact-checking and verification procedures to prevent such incidents from recurring and remain committed to upholding KBS’s broadcasting standards.”

Anticipation also grew with news that Korean national soccer team captain Son Heung Min would be throwing the first pitch at the same stadium just two days later marking a rare back-to-back spotlight on two of Korea’s biggest stars.

Japanese model Harin, once slated to debut with NewJeans, has now been officially confirmed to have signed a trainee contract with ADOR under former CEO Min Hee Jin. Though she was only months away from debuting, her dream ended abruptly a fact now substantiated by official documents.

For a long time, some online communities dismissed Harin’s account, accusing her of fabricating claims about being part of the NewJeans lineup and insisting she had only trained under Source Music. However, newly revealed evidence proves otherwise.

On August 19, the YouTube channel Entertainment President Lee Jin Ho released a video titled “Shocking Exclusive, Trainee Contract Revealed: The Truth Behind Harin’s Exit from the NewJeans Debut Team.” The video presented Harin’s official trainee contract with ADOR, signed on January 7, 2022, by Harin, her parents, and Min Hee Jin. The contract, originally set to run until January 6, 2023, was terminated after just two months.

Born in 2003, Harin first entered the K-pop trainee system after passing a Source Music audition in 2020. She later transferred to ADOR and was included in the NewJeans debut lineup, only to be cut shortly before the group’s official debut.

In July, Harin appeared on Japanese actor Hiromitsu Takeda’s YouTube channel, where she recounted being suddenly told her contract was terminated and ordered to return to Japan. According to her, she had already been confirmed as part of NewJeans’ final lineup when the company abruptly cut ties. She claimed her phone and iPad were confiscated, her dorm access revoked, and she was forced to leave Korea in complete isolation.

Amid the renewed spotlight on her story, Harin has since made her YouTube channel private and returned to Japan to focus on recovery.

At midnight KST on August 18, the agency released an announcement video in which founder Yang Hyun Suk detailed comeback plans for TREASURE and BABYMONSTER, as well as updates on BLACKPINK’s long-awaited album.

First up, TREASURE will return with their mini album “LOVE PULSE” on September 1 at 6 p.m. KST. The release will feature four tracks, including the title song “PARADISE.” The announcement video concluded with a preview of the group’s dance practice for their B-side “EVERYTHING.”

BABYMONSTER’s comeback schedule has also shifted. Originally slated for October 1, their new mini album will now drop on October 10. While “HOT SAUCE” was initially planned as a pre-release track for the album, it will instead remain a standalone special summer single. The upcoming EP, titled “WE GO UP,” will include four brand-new songs, with the title track of the same name.

Yang Hyun Suk further revealed that BABYMONSTER has already wrapped up filming for their new reality program “BAEMON HOUSE,” reminiscent of BLACKPINK’s popular series BLACKPINK House.

As for BLACKPINK, he confirmed that the members and their producers are currently immersed in preparations for a new album, adding, “I’m hoping BLACKPINK’s album will be released by November at the latest.”

On the morning of August 17 (KST), BTS members RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook surprised fans with a short seven-minute livestream on Weverse. Filmed at the beach, the broadcast captured the group’s playful mood and lighthearted interactions.

Jimin, fresh from a swim, appeared shirtless next to V, while Jin still dripping wet was pulled into a hug. Jungkook handled the camera, showing the members’ relaxed energy. RM reassured fans with, “We’re doing well,” and Suga added, “I’ve been working hard on album production.”

Jin, who recently wrapped a fan concert tour in Europe before joining a songwriting camp in the U.S., greeted fans warmly: “I’ve arrived in America safely and met the guys again.”

The group’s reunion follows major milestones earlier this summer: RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook completed their military service in June, Suga was discharged from alternative service, J-Hope wrapped his solo concerts, and Jin concluded his tour. Now gathered in Los Angeles, the members are focusing on new music.

“We’ve been working non-stop, and today’s our rest day,” RM explained. Jungkook joked, “It’s getting a little tiring,” while Jimin admitted, “Working six days a week with only one day off is tough.” J-Hope echoed, “We’re really just working.”

Adding humor, Jungkook quipped, “I thought things would feel completely different here in the U.S. and they are but it still feels like a factory.” Jin playfully teased, “Since I joined later, I expected something special. But really, it’s just waking up, exercising, going to the studio, eating, and sleeping.”

On August 15, BLACKPINK’s Lisa shared a series of intimate photos on her personal social media with the caption, “Still dreaming.”

Lisa was also seen taking candid photos of Sakaguchi, showcasing their warm chemistry.

Lisa and Sakaguchi previously worked together on the short film for “Dream,” a track from her first full-length album Alter Ego, where he portrayed her past lover.

It seems NewJeans and their agency ADOR have once again failed to reach a settlement.

On August 14, the Civil Settlement Division 41 of the Seoul Central District Court held a mediation session for ADOR’s lawsuit against Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein, seeking confirmation of the validity of their exclusive contracts.

Minji and Danielle attended in person, briefly apologizing before entering the courtroom. The closed-door session lasted about an hour and 20 minutes, but ended without an agreement. The court has scheduled a second mediation for September 11, with a ruling to follow on October 30 if talks fail again.

The dispute dates back to the dismissal of former CEO Min Hee Jin in August last year. In November, NewJeans announced they were ending their exclusive contracts with ADOR, rebranded as NJZ, and vowed to continue activities independently. In response, ADOR sued to affirm the contracts’ validity, claiming the group had terminated them unilaterally. In January, the court granted ADOR’s injunction to preserve the agency’s rights and block the members from pursuing independent advertising or promotional work.

While ADOR insists the contracts remain binding and hopes for a settlement, NewJeans maintains that trust has been irreparably broken and has no plans to return.

Yuqi of (G)I-DLE is preparing for a much-anticipated solo comeback.

The release sold over 550,000 copies in its first week, ranking third in K-pop female solo history for highest first-week sales and setting the record for the best-selling mini-album by a female soloist.

Earlier this year, she dropped the digital single Radio (Dum-Dum), blending hip-hop and R&B with her signature low-register vocals. As a songwriter and producer, Yuqi has contributed to both (G)I-DLE’s albums and her solo work, as well as collaborations like her June project with Nows.

Meanwhile, (G)I-DLE will perform at Japan’s largest music festival, SUMMER SONIC 2025, on August 16–17.

On August 8 at midnight KST, JYP Entertainment announced the release date of Chaeyoung’s first solo album, along with a short video offering a behind-the-scenes look at the production process. The clip shows Chaeyoung actively involved in creating the album, including working hard in the recording studio.

She will be the fourth TWICE member to debut as a solo artist, following Nayeon, Jihyo, and Tzuyu. Her solo album is set to be released on September 12 at 1 PM KST.

Annie recently opened up about the challenges she faced and the dedication it took to debut with ALLDAY PROJECT.

On August 5, she appeared alongside Tarzzan as a special guest on the YouTube variety show Salon Drip 2, hosted by Jang Do Yeon on channel TEO, where she candidly shared her journey to becoming an idol.

When asked how she connected with THEBLACKLABEL’s Teddy and eventually joined ALLDAY PROJECT, Annie reflected on her longtime admiration for 2NE1 and BIGBANG. “I’ve always wanted to follow in their footsteps, ever since I was young,” she said. “When ‘Lollipop’ came out and 2NE1 debuted, I’d always take on CL’s part and assign the other roles to my younger sister.”

Annie also spoke about convincing her parents to support her dream of becoming a singer. “At first, they didn’t take me seriously. They thought it was just a phase, something that would pass like the wind,” she admitted.

Addressing assumptions about her background and how she joined the group, host Jang Do Yeon mentioned that many people believe the label recruited her because of her family connections. Annie clarified, “I actually auditioned to get into THEBLACKLABEL. I joined as a trainee and worked hard before becoming part of the group.”

She went on to describe the unique training process she underwent while studying abroad. “I wasn’t in Korea, so I trained online. I’d take lessons virtually, record my performances, and send them in for feedback,” she explained. “I did that for four years. Whenever I visited Korea during vacations, I would go straight to the company to practice.”

Jang Do Yeon praised her perseverance, saying, “You’re incredibly determined.”

Despite coming from a high-profile family — as the granddaughter of Shinsegae Group chairwoman Lee Myung Hee and the eldest daughter of Shinsegae president Jung Yoo Kyung — Annie emphasized that her debut was earned through passion and persistence, not privilege.

Lee Min (birth name Lee Min Young), a member of the iconic female duo As One, has tragically passed away at the age of 46.

On August 5th KST, Lee Min was found deceased in her home. Authorities have since launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her sudden death.

A representative from BRANDNEW MUSIC addressed the situation on August 6th, stating, “The police are currently investigating. We respectfully ask the public to avoid speculation until official findings are released.”

Industry insiders noted that Lee Min had remained active in her career. In June, she released a single titled “Happy Birthday” and made a guest appearance on Park Bo Gum’s Cantabile, signaling a fresh wave of activities. A close friend of the late artist expressed disbelief at the news, saying, “She was such a positive soul. She had just resumed her music and seemed genuinely happy.

It still doesn’t feel real.” Another acquaintance shared, “I saw her just last week. She was always so sincere and dedicated, balancing both her music and her role as an instructor.”

Lee Min made her debut in 1999 as one half of As One, known for hits like “For You I Long and Resent,” “Day by Day,” “Don’t Be Silly,” and “Am I the One Who Should Apologize.”

The duo earned widespread recognition for their emotional ballads and harmonies, leaving a lasting impact on the Korean music scene.

TWICE made history as the headlining act at Lollapalooza Chicago, one of the world’s largest music festivals, performing for a massive audience. The group lit up the stage with a powerful setlist, featuring fan favorites like “The Feels,” “MORE & MORE,” “Dance the Night Away,” and “Takedown,” the OST from the animated film K-Pop Demon Hunters.

Following the iconic performance, Jihyo gave fans a behind-the-scenes treat on Instagram. She posted a series of backstage shots, turning heads with her striking visuals and sculpted abs, dressed in a white crop top and low-rise jeans.

BIGHIT MUSIC has officially addressed and denied the circulating rumors suggesting BTS’s involvement in an upcoming Michael Jackson tribute album.

The speculation began after Paddy Dunning, the owner of Ireland’s Grouse Lodge Studio, mentioned in an interview that several global superstars, including BTS, had recorded unreleased tracks originally written for the late pop icon.

Dunning claimed the songs were being brought to life with the help of artists like BTS and longtime Michael Jackson collaborators such as Rodney Jerkins.

In response to the growing buzz, BIGHIT MUSIC released a clear and direct statement: “BTS has neither visited Grouse Lodge Studio in Ireland nor taken part in any recording sessions at the location for the mentioned project.

The group is not involved in the tribute album in any capacity.” This clarification puts to rest the fan-driven speculation that BTS might be featured on a posthumous Michael Jackson track. The label emphasized that BTS has had no connection to the project, physically or musically.

Despite the excitement such a collaboration could have sparked among fans of both global icons, the company’s firm statement confirms that the rumors were entirely unfounded.

South Korean comedian Lee Soo Ji has gone viral with her hilarious spoof of the famous “Affair Cam” moment—this time during Son Heung Min’s farewell match in Seoul.

At the 2025 Coupang Play Series game between Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United on August 3 KST, held at Seoul World Cup Stadium, Lee appeared on the kiss cam alongside fellow comedian Kim Kyoo Won. In a perfectly executed skit, the two posed like a couple, but Lee suddenly pulled away in mock shock, hiding her face as if she’d been caught in an affair.

The parody, referencing the viral Coldplay concert moment, had the stadium’s 65,000+ attendees roaring with laughter.

Girls’ Generation’s YoonA recently responded to playful rumors accusing her of having “Center Syndrome” a tongue-in-cheek term used to describe idols who allegedly feel the need to always be in the center during group performances or photos.

The buzz was reignited after fellow member Tiffany Young jokingly claimed in a past YouTube video that “YoonA has a condition where she can’t survive unless she’s in the center.”

On August 4 KST, YoonA appeared with actor Ahn Bo Hyun on the YouTube show Zzanbro Shin Dong Yup, where the topic came up once again. Co-host Jung Ho Cheol teasingly asked, “Are you okay with your seat? You’re not in the center today,” to which YoonA calmly and humorously responded, “I feel very comfortable.”

When reminded of Tiffany’s viral comment, YoonA laughed and clarified, “There’s no such syndrome. When I saw what the unnies said, I just thought, ‘Oh, they’re just being funny for the show.’” She then joked, “Let’s just say this seat is the center today.” Host Shin Dong Yup joined in on the lighthearted exchange, quipping, “If it starts to feel like you’re dying, we can switch seats.”

Tiffany previously addressed her remark in a Boogle Boogle YouTube appearance, explaining it was just a joke, and cheekily added that it’s actually Sooyoung who “wants to be in the center and proudly admits it.” The entire interaction has since drawn laughs from fans, putting to rest any serious speculation and highlighting the group’s ongoing camaraderie and good-natured teasing.

Speculation is running wild online after fans picked up on comments suggesting that BTS may have recorded an unreleased song originally written for Michael Jackson.

The buzz started after Paddy Dunning, owner of Ireland’s Grouse Lodge Studio, revealed in an interview that global artists—including BTS—have been involved in sessions using unreleased tracks created by Michael Jackson’s longtime collaborators, including producer Rodney Jerkins.

According to VIBE, Dunning shared that he’s been working to bring these hidden songs to life by enlisting major global stars. Fresh from a U.S. trip, he stated, “We’ve been signing up some of the world’s biggest acts to record tracks originally written for Michael.” While no official confirmation has been made, BTS’s name in the mix has fans excited—and curious—about what may be coming.

Highlights included ZEROBASEONE’s high-energy sets across all three nights—cementing their headliner status—and a surprise dance stage by Hanbin and Lee Youngji that quickly became a fan favorite. Duets like YUQI and Zhang Hao’s added a heartfelt dimension to the performances.

Actor Song Young Kyu, who recently faced backlash over a drunk driving incident, has been found dead at the age of 55.

According to the Yongin Dongbu Police Station, Song was discovered in a parked vehicle within a residential complex in Cheoin-gu, Yongin, around 8 a.m. on August 4. Authorities responded to a report made by a woman and are currently investigating the cause and circumstances of his death. Back in June, the actor made headlines after being caught driving under the influence.

On June 19 around 11 p.m., he reportedly drove about 5 kilometers from Giheung-gu to Cheoin-gu after drinking with acquaintances. His blood alcohol level was said to exceed 0.08%, a level that warrants license revocation. He was referred to prosecutors without detention. Following the DUI incident, Song stepped down from the stage production Shakespeare in Love.

The team behind ENA’s drama The Defects, in which he had completed filming, announced they would minimize his screen time. Meanwhile, SBS’s The Winning Try stated that his role was too minor to be immediately edited out; he appeared as originally filmed in the July 26 episode.

Actor Kim Min Kyu is making waves online this week after a viral post sparked debate over whether he deserves a spot among the top 3 most handsome male actors today.

Known for his standout visuals and charming presence, Kim Min Kyu has built a solid acting résumé, most recently starring as Cha Jin Wook in Bitch X Rich. Before turning to acting, he originally aimed to debut as an idol and gained attention through Produce X 101, where he finished in 12th place.

Netflix’s original animated film K-Pop Demon Hunters has officially made history, becoming the most-watched animated movie in the platform’s history.

Since its global release, the film has dominated Netflix’s Top 10 charts across numerous countries, particularly in South Korea, the United States, Brazil, France, and the Philippines. Combining the high-energy world of K-pop with thrilling supernatural action, K-Pop Demon Hunters has captivated both animation fans and K-pop enthusiasts alike. Produced by Sony Pictures Animation and featuring voice acting by K-pop idols Ji-young Yoo and Eric Nam, the film tells the story of a fictional girl group who live double lives: dazzling idols by day, fierce demon slayers by night. Its unique blend of stylish choreography, emotional storytelling, and high-stakes action has resonated with audiences worldwide. Critics and fans have praised the film’s innovative animation style, culturally rich storytelling, and strong female-led cast.

The movie’s explosive success marks a major moment not just for Korean representation in global media, but also for the animation industry, proving the growing appetite for stories that fuse pop culture with fresh, genre-bending narratives. Netflix has not only confirmed the milestone but also hinted at possible spin-offs and a sequel in development, riding the wave of this unprecedented global success.

BTS’s Kim Taehyung (V) continues to wow fans with his dedication to fitness.

On July 30, Taehyung’s trainer shared a series of gym photos on Instagram, capturing a fun moment with the star.

In the caption, the trainer joked, “Please don’t be good at working out too 🙁 You are awesome!” — praising Taehyung’s impressive progress in a playful tone.

The photos show Taehyung smiling brightly and flashing a peace sign next to his trainer. Fans were quick to notice his noticeably stronger build, especially his broad shoulders and defined biceps.

The animator behind Kpop Demon Hunters recently revealed an interesting behind-the-scenes detail about the creation of the character Jinu, the charismatic leader of the fictional idol group Saja Boys.

During an interview or production commentary, the animator shared that EXO’s Kai served as a major source of inspiration, particularly when it came to animating Jinu’s facial expressions and stage presence.

In order to bring to life the facial expressions of Jinu, the leader of Saja Boys, we referenced Kai, a member of the idol group EXO a lot,” the animator explained.

Kai, known for his intense gaze, expressive face, and commanding performance energy, offered the perfect reference point for building a believable and dynamic K-pop leader in animated form. His ability to convey emotion through subtle shifts in expression, combined with his fluid, powerful stage persona, helped the animation team infuse Jinu with a sense of realism and charisma that would resonate with K-pop fans.

This reference not only highlights Kai’s impact as a performer but also reflects the broader influence of real-world idols in shaping how fictional K-pop narratives are brought to life in animated storytelling.

As the regular programming of ‘Inkigayo’ takes a two-week break, idols convene at the ‘2025 SBS Gayo Daejeon Summer’, held on July 26 and 27.

Before taking the stage for explosive performances bound to blast off the summer heat, the various idols grace the blue carpet on the second day. Check out the exciting lineup

Actor Yeo Jin Goo found himself at the center of online buzz after an X (formerly Twitter) account under his name was seen following an adult content page titled “Sharing My Porn Preferences.”

The situation quickly gained attention across online communities. However, on July 24, his agency clarified that the account is not personally operated by the actor but managed by a staff member.

In a statement to Newsen, a representative explained, “It was a misclick by a staff member, not Yeo Jin Goo himself. We are taking measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.”
The adult account has since been unfollowed.

At the third court hearing on July 24 regarding ADOR’s lawsuit to confirm its exclusive contracts with NewJeans, the group’s legal team stated that the members are willing to return—but only if the company is restored to how it was before HYBE’s audit.

Representing members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein, the legal team argued that the conflict began with HYBE’s audit in April 2023, which they claimed disregarded the members’ well-being. “There was no protection for the girls—it was as if they were told to stay out of the adults’ fight and keep working,” the lawyer said.

They emphasized that recent police investigations cleared former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin of any breach of trust, suggesting that the audit lacked legitimacy. “The ADOR that exists today is not the same company the members originally signed with,” the lawyer continued. “It’s now filled with HYBE executives, and the trust is broken.”

The members’ side also noted that the group bore the brunt of the HYBE–Min Hee Jin conflict, citing how Hanni was left vulnerable during her internal personnel issue. “HYBE failed to protect her and even made her look dishonest,” the statement read.

The members insist they would consider returning only if ADOR is restored to the state they originally joined—a label that supported them wholeheartedly and independently.

Former fromis_9 member Lee Seo Yeon has officially joined H1GHR MUSIC RECORDS, marking a fresh chapter as a solo artist.

According to a July 23 report from IZE, Lee signed an exclusive contract with the hip-hop and R&B label after leaving PLEDIS Entertainment in December 2023. Known for its genre-focused artistry, H1GHR MUSIC is home to acts like BIG Naughty, pH-1, Lil Boi, and Woodie Gochild, and was named “Label/Crew of the Year” at the 2021 Korean Hip-hop Awards.

Now backed by a respected label, Lee Seo Yeon is preparing to make her solo debut with a new sound and direction.

Paramount Pictures has officially revealed a new untitled K-pop-themed film in partnership with HYBE America, with Ji Young Yoo (K-Pop Demon Hunters) and Eric Nam set to star.

Slated for a theatrical release in February 2027, the film will be directed by Benson Lee (Seoul Searching) and marks the first major Hollywood production to be filmed entirely in South Korea.

The story centers on a young Korean-American woman who defies her family’s expectations to join a televised competition, hoping to debut in the next global K-pop girl group.

The latest script was written by Eileen Shim, following earlier drafts by Crazy Rich Asians screenwriter Adele Lim.

Netflix’s “All of Us Are Dead” is officially returning for Season 2!

On July 23, Netflix revealed the cast lineup for the upcoming season, featuring returning stars Park Ji Hu, Yoon Chan Young, Cho Yi Hyun, and Lomon, along with new additions Lee Min Jae, Kim Si Eun, Roh Jae Won, and Yoon Ga Yi.

Adapted from a popular webtoon, “All of Us Are Dead” follows a group of students fighting to survive after a zombie virus outbreak at their high school. The first season premiered in 2022 and quickly became a global hit, prompting Netflix to greenlight a second season.

Season 2 will pick up after the initial outbreak, as the survivors try to return to normal life—only to face a new wave of infections in Seoul. Director Lee Jae Gyu and writer Chun Sung Il will reunite to lead the highly anticipated continuation.

TWICE’s Jeongyeon is set to make her acting debut!

On July 22 KST, it was reported that Jeongyeon has been cast in The Recruit: The Movie, a spin-off of the popular military drama The Recruit. She’ll take on the role of an army nurse officer — her first acting role nearly a decade after debuting as a K-pop idol.

While the original series explored life within a military unit, the film will shift focus to a military hospital. The script is in its final stages, with filming slated to begin later this year. Jeongyeon is currently adjusting her schedule in preparation.

A class action lawsuit is being prepared against HYBE chairman Bang Si Hyuk over alleged fraudulent and unfair trading practices.

On July 22, law firm Rojipsa announced plans to file the lawsuit and began recruiting plaintiffs. Lead attorney Lee Jungyeop stated the firm is targeting Bang and related investment fund executives, aiming to proceed under the Class Action Act once 50 or more plaintiffs are secured.

Bang is currently under criminal referral by financial authorities for alleged violations of capital market laws. He’s accused of misleading early investors by secretly selling shares to a private equity fund while claiming HYBE had no IPO plans, and failing to disclose a profit-sharing deal worth approximately 400 billion KRW (~$290 million USD).

Rojipsa warned that the scandal could potentially impact HYBE’s listing status, posing serious risks to general shareholders. HYBE responded, expressing regret over the situation and pledging to cooperate with the investigation to restore market trust.

Netflix has confirmed the production of a new original series titled Variety, starring Son Ye Jin and Jo Yu Ri in the lead roles.

The drama centers on Sae Eun, the ambitious head of Korea’s top entertainment agency, and Seung Hee, a devoted fan obsessed with the idol group Sae Eun created. As their paths collide, a tense and unpredictable story unfolds, exploring the hidden desires of those involved. Variety is directed and written by Kim Yong Hoon, known for Mask Girl and Beasts Clawing at Straws.

NewJeans celebrated their 3rd debut anniversary on July 22 with a special social media post.

At midnight KST, the group shared a short animated clip on their official accounts, marking the day as “NewJeans Day.” The video features the five members illustrated in a Japanese anime style, delighting fans with its charming tribute.

Eight tracks from the Netflix animated series ‘K-pop Demon Hunters’ have pulled off a rare chart sweep, entering the Billboard Hot 100 simultaneously. The police have officially cleared former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin of breach of trust allegations filed by HYBE.

On July 15 KST, Min’s representatives confirmed that the Seoul Yongsan Police Station found no wrongdoing in HYBE’s April 2024 complaint. “After over a year of investigation, both cases submitted by HYBE were dismissed without charges,” the statement read. Min had undergone around eight hours of questioning during the investigation, confidently telling reporters, “Calling this breach of trust doesn’t even make sense,” and asserting that she and her legal team had ample evidence to support her case.

HYBE had accused Min of attempting to take control of ADOR despite being a minority shareholder, prompting a police complaint and a bid to remove her through a shareholder vote.

However, the Seoul Central District Court sided with Min, granting an injunction that blocked HYBE from exercising its voting rights, stating that HYBE failed to sufficiently justify her dismissal. The court acknowledged that Min had sought more independent governance for ADOR, particularly regarding the group NewJeans, but ruled that her actions did not amount to criminal breach of trust. With the police now dismissing HYBE’s complaint, Min Hee Jin emerges with a significant legal and public victory.

The court also ordered all three to complete 40 hours of sexual violence education and mandated their registration as sex offenders in their local communities.

A man identified as Mr. A—the father of a well-known K-pop idol—has been banned from leaving South Korea due to allegations of large-scale fraud totaling nearly 291.9 billion KRW (approx. $210 million). On July 8, the Seoul Administrative Court rejected his appeal to lift the travel restriction, upholding the Ministry of Justice’s extended ban.

Mr. A is accused of defrauding numerous investors over a 17-month period starting in September 2022, using a platform that promised high returns. Authorities imposed the travel ban in April 2024, and it has been renewed monthly since.

In court, Mr. A argued that his family ties—including a son active in a K-pop group—and business obligations proved he had no intention of fleeing. He also claimed the restriction was harming his company’s operations, as international travel was necessary.

However, the court dismissed his claims, citing the severity of the case and the potential for a long-term investigation. It emphasized public interest in ensuring justice, noting Mr. A’s frequent prior overseas travel raised concerns about possible non-compliance with future legal proceedings.

The court concluded that personal circumstances, including his son’s celebrity status, did not outweigh the risk of obstruction or flight.
