A shocking development has emerged regarding a well-known variety show producer (PD), identified as ‘A’, who is now facing trial for sexual assault following the discovery of incriminating surveillance footage.

On February 27, media outlets reported that the Seoul Western District Prosecutors’ Office officially indicted PD ‘A’ without detention on charges of sexual assault (forced molestation) on February 24. This legal move marks a significant reversal in the case, which had previously been dismissed by police.

The controversy stems from an incident that occurred last August in Sangam-dong, Seoul. ‘A’ was accused of making unwanted physical contact with a junior staff member following a company dinner. Reports detail that the PD touched the junior staffer’s neck and placed an arm around their shoulder while walking.

Initially, the Seoul Mapo Police investigated the complaint but decided not to prosecute in December. They concluded that while physical contact had occurred, there was insufficient evidence to prove sexual intent. At the time, PD ‘A’ defended his actions, stating, “The contact was only a friendly gesture, like patting shoulders or putting an arm around someone to encourage them at the end of the gathering.”

However, the case took a sharp turn after the victim filed a formal objection on January 15. The prosecution took over the case and ordered a re-investigation, which included a detailed analysis of CCTV footage from the scene.

According to prosecutors, the video evidence directly contradicted the PD’s narrative of a friendly interaction. The footage reportedly showed the victim pushing ‘A’ away and actively attempting to avoid the contact. Based on this visual evidence proving the act was non-consensual, the prosecution determined the charges were substantiated and has sent the case to trial.
