From capturing hearts as the "Wink Boy" of Wanna One to commanding the screen as a tragic Joseon king, Park Ji Hoon continues to impress. On the February 25 broadcast of tvN’s popular talk show You Quiz on the Block, the singer-turned-actor opened up about his filial piety and the extreme lengths he went to for his latest blockbuster role.

During the episode, Park Ji Hoon revealed a heartwarming story from his early twenties. "My father had been driving the same car for a very long time," he shared. "I wanted to give him something special, and since he likes cars, I decided to buy him an SUV when I was 22."

When host Yoo Jae Suk praised the gesture, asking if it was a high-end ride, Park Ji Hoon humbly joked about the purchase details. "It’s a boxy, square-shaped model. I actually got it during a bargain sale," he laughed, adding, "He is still driving it to this day."

The conversation took a more serious turn as they discussed his current box office hit, The King’s Warden. Starring as the 6th Joseon King, Danjong, the film has already drawn in over 6 million viewers. To perfectly embody the weary, exiled king, Park Ji Hoon underwent a grueling physical transformation.

"I lost 15kg (approx. 33 lbs) for the role," he confessed, shocking the hosts. "For two months, I ate only one apple a day to prepare for the exile scenes."

His dedication has clearly paid off. Once known primarily for his bright idol visuals, audiences are now praising him as the "reincarnation of Danjong," noting his pure expressions and poignant gaze. He also spoke fondly of his chemistry with veteran co-star Yoo Hae Jin and shared that his own family now jokingly calls him "King Danjong" at home.
