Lee Sang Soon and Lee Hyori have temporarily halted all broadcasting activities following a heartbreaking family loss. The beloved K-pop icon is mourning the passing of her father, Lee Jung Kwang, who sadly passed away on April 12. Fans around the world are sending their deepest condolences and support to the grieving family.
Broadcast Cancellations and Adjustments
Due to the sudden bereavement, Lee Sang Soon has temporarily stepped down from hosting his MBC FM4U radio show, Perfect Day, This Is Lee Sang Soon. Lee Hyori was also scheduled to make a highly anticipated guest appearance on her husband’s show on April 14. Understandably, this appearance has been entirely canceled as the couple focuses on their family.
To help during this difficult time, singer Thomas Cook has graciously stepped up to support the couple. He is currently serving as the special substitute DJ for Lee Sang Soon’s radio program. This temporary adjustment gives the family the essential time and space they need to grieve privately.
Funeral Details and Past Tributes
The funeral procession for Lee Jung Kwang is scheduled to take place on April 14 at the Chung-Ang University Hospital. Demonstrating his steadfast support, Lee Sang Soon will be acting as a chief mourner alongside his wife, Lee Hyori.
Lee Hyori has always been beautifully open about her deep bond with her father. She previously shared touching personal stories about him in her 2008 track “The Barber’s Daughter.” Fans may also remember her honestly discussing his illness during the 2022 tvN program Canada Check-In.
During times of loss, the unwavering support of the K-pop fan community means everything to our beloved artists. Please share your supportive thoughts, favorite memories of Lee Hyori’s music, and messages of condolences in the comments below.
