The animator behind Kpop Demon Hunters recently revealed an interesting behind-the-scenes detail about the creation of the character Jinu, the charismatic leader of the fictional idol group Saja Boys.

During an interview or production commentary, the animator shared that EXO’s Kai served as a major source of inspiration, particularly when it came to animating Jinu’s facial expressions and stage presence.

In order to bring to life the facial expressions of Jinu, the leader of Saja Boys, we referenced Kai, a member of the idol group EXO a lot,” the animator explained.

Kai, known for his intense gaze, expressive face, and commanding performance energy, offered the perfect reference point for building a believable and dynamic K-pop leader in animated form. His ability to convey emotion through subtle shifts in expression, combined with his fluid, powerful stage persona, helped the animation team infuse Jinu with a sense of realism and charisma that would resonate with K-pop fans.

This reference not only highlights Kai’s impact as a performer but also reflects the broader influence of real-world idols in shaping how fictional K-pop narratives are brought to life in animated storytelling.
